EXCAVATE! Egypt is a social studies excavation game that integrates visual images of ancient Egyptian artifacts with a critical analysis of the text to interpret and analyze the uses and impact each artifact had. Excavate teaches the student about the tools that archaeologists use and learns the basics of excavation. Players will interpret information gathered within the game to evaluate and construct a direct link between the object uncovered to its ancient society and culture.  This is the second in a planned series of civilizations.

  • Grades 4-8
  • Gameplay:
    • Players will navigate an interactive map to travel to 4 different ancient Egyptian cities. Players will need to choose the correct archaeological tool in order to uncover the artifact in the digging site. Then after retrieving all the artifacts, the player will conduct an initial analysis of the each one by answering multiple choice questions.
