Dig-It! Games will be featuring Roman Town, the premier archaeology game for kids at this years event.
In 1899, the Archaeological Institute of America created a conference that has been a forum for archaeologists from around the world for more than 111 years. The Annual Meeting is now the largest and oldest established meeting of classical scholars and archaeologists in North America. We invite you to join us for the 2010 Annual Meeting in sunny California!
Join us at the 10th Annual AIA Archaeology Fair, hosted by the Ocean Institute on Dana Point, CA. The fair, held in conjunction with the 111th Joint AIA-APA Annual Meeting, is scheduled for January 9th and 10th from 10am to 3pm on both days. Visitors of all ages can experience archaeology through hands-on activities led by archaeologists, museum specialists, and other experts including Dig-It! Games featuring Roman Town.

Norman’s Web Watch!
Hi Guys! I’ve been busy web surfing to find the best that the internet has to offer archaeologically. My pick for this issue is a website from the United States of America…www.dig-itgames.com
Dig-It! Games make computer games with historical themes. Their website includes some great pop-out games to try. Have a go at hangman; hunt for archaeological words in the wordsearch; and reconstruct artefacts with the jigsaw puzzles. And there’s a game called ‘Term Scramble’ where you match archaeological words with their meanings. Do you know the difference between ‘context’ and ‘stratigraphy’?! The games do take a little while to load, so be patient. And some of the spellings and terms are American too, so don’t be confused by ‘artifact’ instead of ‘artefact’!
Dig-It! Games have created a brilliant new computer game called Roman Town based around the excavation of a fictional place called Fossura. The game gives you all the fun of a real archaeological excavation without getting your hands dirty. Imagine finding a coin hoard or a colourful mosaic floor; and experience the thrill of putting together broken pots in 3D! Sound like fun? It's real archaeology on your computer! Check out the Dig-It! Games website to learn more. You can download a free trial of the game from the website, and once you’re hooked, you can buy the full version online too.
In Roman Town you can take a tour with Marcus and Lucia to get a firsthand account of Roman daily life.

G. Lawton, Winnetka IL
“I have this game for my 7-year old daughter and she loves it, but I must confess I have played the entire game myself!… Both of my kids have learned so much about Roman life playing this game!… I would recommend this for both parents who want a computer game that is actually fun and educational [and] teachers and home schoolers too.”
R. Maas Atlanta GA
“Imagine if Latin teachers in the past had had a copy of Roman Town! This is a fun, attractive, intuitive game that will entertain as well as teach archeology to most anyone from elementary school on through adulthood. In fact after a half hour or so I had to relinquish the computer to my grandchildren so that they could play. Who knew archeology could be so much fun!”
A. Melvin Springfield VA
